There continues to be a strong demand for our
students, because many businesses benefit from their knowledge of
chemistry, processing, structure and property relationships.
In addition, about a third of our students have
continued with graduate and professional studies, after completion of
the B.S. degree. We provide our students with exposure to polymer
product development and design, while grounding them in fundamental
chemical, physical and engineering principles. This is accomplished
with the following outline of courses, technical elective sequences,
and departmental research opportunities.
More than half of the faculty have worked in
industry and can illustrate practical applications in the classroom.
“Two
“tracks,” differing in emphasis, are presently available:
1)
Polymer Science and
Engineering
Track (standard)
2)
Biomaterials
Track
(new)
