MACROMOLECULAR SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

DEPARTMENTAL CENTERS

NSF Center for Molecular and Microstructure of Composites
director: H. Ishida

CMMC was founded by the National Science Foundation, the State of Ohio and Industrial Members to contribute to the nation's competitiveness for tomorrow.
It has established an efficient technology transfer mechanism between academia and industry.

Unlike other composite centers in the nation, CMMC focuses on the molecular, chemical and microstructural aspects of composites.

The combination of molecular modelling, synthesis, molecular and mechanical characterization, microrheology, and processing provide an integrated technological environment to develop new materials including novel polyimides, polybenzoxazines, and molecular/nano-composites.
