The EPIC Macromolecular Modeling Center was
established to facilitate the application of
computers to molecular structure and dynamics.
With powerful Silicon Graphics computers and
molecular modeling software, molecules can be
created on screen and used to evaluate the
preferred structures without actually
synthesizing them.
Polymer chain conformations,
chain packing in a crystal, chemical reaction
paths, and interfacial interactions are some of
the areas studied.
Molecular modeling is the future
approach of polymer science.
