Research Interests

Structure-function relationships; toughening mechanisms in segmented copolymers; spatial confinement of self-assembled materials, including biomaterials; hierarchical microstructures.

Overview of Research

Our research group focuses on the development of self-assembled materials with specific function (mechanical, chemical, and biological), particularly on multiple length scales, using nanoscale processing techniques and strategic design parameters. We seek to understand the fundamental structure-function relationship in these materials and harness this knowledge in the development of novel systems for drug delivery, tissue engineering, high performance materials, etc.

Current Activity
  1. Interphase-modified vertical multi-layered films
  2. Spatial confinement in unique spaces
  3. Hierarchical soft domains in segmented copolymers
